Roll-Up Roll Up

Based on the success of the lockdown food poverty crisis response we offered in 2020, providing affordable or free meals to the local community, in summer 2021 the Braich Goch offered something a little different- a Thursday night take away serving exciting dishes from around the world! Everything from Mexican Burritos to Indian Kati rolls to Greek Spanakopita to Thai Lettuce wraps! This time we charged a little more, with all profits going to supporting the charitable aims of the Anne Matthews Trust at Braich Goch - working on issues of oppression and social injustice and providing a space of sanctuary and learning for young people and families of refugee and migrant backgrounds. We stuck with our ethos of making food affordable for all by offering a ‘pay it forward option’ every week- giving customers the possibility to choose to donate towards a meal for someone who could not afford one, and making it simple and private for those who wanted to order a free meal for themselves using our website.

The take away informed our internship programme which began in Autumn 2021- an opportunity for 3 young people from dispersed and displaced backgrounds to learn all aspects of running a food and events space. Instead of a take away we now offer  Tapas and Jam on Thursday nights and our Food for Thoughts event series
